definitely interesting..I lived in Oakwood for a semester of school...doing internships at the Warner lot and Camtec in No. Hollywood. Oakwood apts. are definitely small and not the spot I would think to find Rick James but you do find a lot of down on your luck celebs down there...interesting tidbit.

On 107.5, they played an audio of Rick himself saying, "I'm Rick James, bitch!" at an awards show where he claims a stage hand didn't recognize him. Hilarious. But...how old was the stage hand? 12? He died in the Oakwood Apartments on Barham. Barham is the road that goes through no-man's-land between Hollywood and Burbank, from the Cahuenga Pass over the hill and down by the Warner Bros. studios. The Oakwood Apartments are short-term corporate housing -- furnished apartments basically. If he was actually living there, to me it would indicate he was kind of down on his luck (or at least without a permanent home). I'm interested to hear more of the story as it comes out. The guy obviously had abuse issues (violence and substance), but he certainly was an outstanding musician. RIP, Supa Freak!
